Meet Our Engineer: An (Kaden) T.H. DANG, Software Engineer

Kaden’s journey with Enclave began even before graduation, when he received support and mentorship from the team during his senior Capstone project. That early experience later grew into a professional journey shaped by practical learning, teamwork, and plenty of challenges along the way.

One of those challenges was English. What once felt uncomfortable is now part of Kaden’s daily work, from communicating within his team to joining client meetings. For him, progress came through consistent practice, guidance, and an environment where people are open to sharing and helping one another.

Today, Kaden is also exploring how AI can make him a better engineer, using it to brainstorm, support coding, learn faster, and explore solutions while keeping one principle clear: AI can be a teammate, but the engineer still makes the final call.

As Kaden looks back on his first year at Enclave, he shares more about the people, culture, and tools that have shaped the way he works and grows as a software engineer.

Q: How did support from mentors and teammates shape your first year?

When I first started, English was one of my biggest challenges. With guidance from the team and consistent practice, I gradually became more confident communicating in English and approaching problems more professionally. That support helped me grow not only technically, but also in how I analyze problems and work toward better solutions.

Q: After one year, what aspect of Enclave’s culture has had the greatest impact on the way you work?

Teamwork and the support from colleagues have made the biggest difference for me. People are open, approachable, and willing to discuss problems regardless of their role. Together with the flexibility in how we work, that environment has helped me become more comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas, and taking responsibility for my work.

Q: Has AI changed the way you work as a software engineer?

Definitely. I now use AI to brainstorm, support coding, explore solutions, and learn new things instead of relying only on traditional searches. I think of AI almost like a teammate — something I can discuss ideas with and learn from. But I still verify the results and make the final decisions myself.

Kaden’s first year at Enclave has been a journey of steady growth — from becoming more confident in English and learning how to approach problems more professionally, to becoming more comfortable sharing ideas, taking responsibility, and exploring new ways of working with AI.
