Meet Our Engineer is our new series introducing the people behind Enclave — their career journeys, experiences, perspectives, and the culture that shapes how we grow together.

We begin with Duc (Raith) T. NGUYEN, one of our newest AI Engineers and a graduate of Enclave Bootcamp-XIX.

Designed for final-year IT and software students, the six-month Enclave Bootcamp helps young engineers bridge the gap between university and professional software development through hands-on learning, mentorship, and exposure to real project environments.

For Raith, that meant working alongside senior engineers, receiving direct code reviews, joining team meetings, and learning how professional collaboration works beyond the classroom.

We sat down with Raith to hear more about his Bootcamp experience, his first impressions of Enclave, the challenges he faced, and how he sees the role of software engineers evolving in the AI era.

Q: What was your first impression of Enclave’s working environment and culture?

What impressed me most was Enclave’s flat structure. Engineers, team leaders, and directors can work directly together, which makes communication faster and collaboration much more efficient.

Q: What was the most valuable part of Bootcamp-XIX?

Working on a real internal project was the most valuable part of Bootcamp-XIX. We worked alongside senior engineers, received direct code reviews, and joined real team meetings. It taught me much more than technical skills — it showed me how professional teamwork actually works.

Q: What was the biggest challenge you faced during the program, and what helped you overcome it?

Adapting to a new technology and a new field was challenging for me. I had mainly worked on machine learning projects, where I focused on processing data and training models. So, when I first joined a team and started working on an application project, I struggled because it was quite different from what I had experience with. However, I gradually learned, adapted, and became more comfortable with the work. I’d especially like to thank the senior engineers on the team — Ace, Peter, and Philip — for their guidance and support throughout my Bootcamp journey.

After completing Bootcamp-XIX, Raith officially joined Enclave as an AI Engineer — beginning the next stage of a journey that started with his interest in machine learning and continues with his ambition to grow in the rapidly evolving AI field.

Q: How do you think AI will change the role of software engineers?

AI may shift part of a developer’s role toward reviewing and guiding generated code, but it will not remove the need for engineers. Someone still needs to understand the architecture, make the right decisions, and guide AI in the right direction. AI should amplify an engineer’s workflow, not replace engineering judgment.

There is also something special about Bootcamp-XIX: each Enclave Bootcamp carries the number of the company’s year, making this year’s class part of our 19th year of Enclave.
